The New 7 P’s of Nursing as Part of the CNO’s Strategic Vision
In the ever-changing world of healthcare, one crucial part of quality care is nursing. Now, the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) has unveiled a new game-changing blueprint: the 7 p’s of nursing. This new arrangement will essentially work alongside the 6 C’s of nursing we are already so familiar with.
The hopes are that this fresh approach will rock the nursing world, bringing better patient outcomes and creating a passionate, unstoppable nursing force.
The New 7 P’s of Nursing:
Let's take a look at what the 7 P's are, the effect the changes will have on care experiences and outcomes, and how Nurseplus will supportour agency nurses as they implement the new strategy.
Purpose:
Nurses will encouraged to tune into their inner purpose and ensure it aligns with the greater good of patient care. That means they'll be focusing on the importance of their role and what they do can shape the overall experience of the people they care for.
Nurseplus will support our nurses by reminding them of their value, offering them excellent rates of pay, access to in-branch advice and guidance, and free revalidation support services.
Professionalism:
The CNO's new strategy is dedicated to promoting continuous education, ethical practices, and accountability among nurses. This will help maintain the highest standards of professional conduct among nurses and, as part of the new 7 P’s, will ensure nurses are getting the professional credit and recognition they deserve.
At Nurseplus we will continue to adopt rigourous recruitment practices, selecting nursing candidates based on their passion, experience, and dedication to their care careers.
Personalisation:
The time of personalised medicine has now extended to nursing care. A new personalised approach will encourage nurses to cater to the unique needs of each person in their care. Nurses will be expected to take into account the cultural, emotional, and psychological factors that go into building stronger bonds between nurses and those in their care which will ultimately lead to better health outcomes.
Nurseplus instills the importance of practicing person-centered care from the point of recruitment and throughout our business. Our Diversity and Inclusion policies, ESG practices, and local branch network will help our nurses prioritise personlised care at every opportunity.
Proactivity:
A big part of the new 7 P’s of nursing is all about being proactive. It’s time for nurses to take charge of their own challenges, instead of simply reacting to them. Nurses will be urged to continuously self-assess their skills, fix any weak spots, and pass on any fresh ideas they have that could improve the care they deliver.
All Nurseplus staff have access to further education and training, so our nurses can continuously improve their skills and our branch teams will actively encourage personal and professional development where possible. Our nurses also have access to the Workwise app which gives nurses the chance to leave feedback from their shifts and offer suggestions for improvements or changes they think could be made which we can then feed into our clients.
Partnership:
The importance of collaboration cannot be overstated, and partnership is one of the essential new "P's" announced in the CNO's strategy. Nurses are encouraged to forge stronger bonds with the healthcare professionals they work with. This includes their direct teams, indirect stakeholders, and the wider care community. This new stance of collaborative approach will help nurses build more integrated and harmonious care experiences for everyone.
At Nurseplus, we focus on building strong and lasting relationships with our clients and our nurses so that together we can provide excellent care to those who need it.
Prevention:
Forget just fixing what's broken! The new 7 P’s of nursing are about identifying and managing health risks before they begin. Nurses will become leaders when it comes to spotting and tackling signs of illness or sickness earlier and prevention will be a big part of the overall plan to boost wellness in healthcare settings.
Nurseplus will support our nurses in having the confidence to take the appropriate action when needed. Our Mandatory Training, which all our staff must complete, covers the importance of recognising and establishing proper chains of command in new environments and safeguarding the people in their care.
Productivity:
The last 'P' in the new nursing strategy is productivity! Nurses will be encouraged to optimise their workflow, make use of the technology at their disposal and embrace efficiency all whilst maintaining high-quality care. By putting productivity into the spotlight the new strategy will ensure nursing resources are utilised to give people in care the best possible results.
At Nurseplus, we take the reigns when it comes to finding shifts that work around our nurses's schedules. Our local branches focus on helping our nurses strike a perfect work-life balance so they can be at their most productive when at work.
The Role of Nurseplus and Our Nurses
Nurseplus will play a pivotal role in this new strategy, working hard with our nurses and clients to ensure the new 7 P’s of nursing are put into action. We will ensure that our nurse recruitment practices and strategies are perfectly aligned with the new 7 P’s so that Nurseplus and our nurses share the same vision as the CNO. Nurseplus will continue to support effective communication and collaboration between our agency nurses, the healthcare establishments we work with, and the wider healthcare community.
The unveiling of the new 7 P's of nursing marks a big step in the evolution of the nursing profession. By focusing on the Purpose, Professionalism, Personalisation, Proactivity, Partnership, Prevention, and Productivity, of our nurses the CNO's new strategy brings a fresh start to create a more dynamic and responsive nursing workforce. At Nurseplus, we’ll be leading the charge by helping to ensure that our nurses adhere to the 7 P’s and that they can continue to have an impact on better patient care and healthcare outcomes.
